The error was produced with IE, DavExplorer and our own client code. Our own
client code uses apache webdav libs. The client was run from a Windows XP SP2
and MAC OSX 10.4.

Our Tomcat server (5.5.12) was running on port 80.

We tested the same clients on Apache 2.0.54 with mod_dav without any problems.
This leads me to think that the problem lies with Tomcat and not our client.

Test code:

Another serious problem in Jasper2 precompilation is when web.xml

RE: [VOTE] 5.5.12 Stability

2005-10-05 Thread Allistair Crossley
Hi,

I've tested our intranet app on 5.5.12. Our application uses the following
extensively;

NTLM authentication via IIS5/JK1.2
META-INF/context.xml configuration
8 JNDI datasources (mix of various SQL Server 2K databases and JavaMail)
Log4J
Hibernate
Spring
Struts
CMS

Seems a touch faster than usual to me but this is speculation.

The only issue that was reported is lots of these:

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: URI was not reported to parser for entity
[document]
at gnu.xml.aelfred2.SAXDriver.warn(SAXDriver.java:934)

These are only WARN level and do not appear to have affected the operation of
the web app, however there are at least 10 of these stack traces in the logs
which *may* confuse some users to think Tomcat is failing.

These only occur for Spring's applicationContext file which has a DTD of

!DOCTYPE beans PUBLIC -//SPRING//DTD BEAN//EN
http://www.springframework.org/dtd/spring-beans.dtd;

My verdict based on testing is

[X] Stable - no major issues

Cheers, Allistair.

yes, and since ant is running on the eclipse JVM, no other way to

If I recall exactly in JspConfig :

if (uri == null) {
// no web.xml

is = uri.openStream();
InputSource ip = new InputSource(is);
ip.setSystemId(uri.toExternalForm());

ParserUtils pu = new ParserUtils();
TreeNode webApp = pu.parseXMLDocument(WEB_XML, ip);

New Web Apps???

2005-10-05 Thread Todd_Jaspers

Hey guys,

  I'm going to apologize ahead of time for my ignorance. I'm a Delphi /
Visual Basic / Mumps programmer, and I've been asked to cram Java,
JavaScript, HTML, and whatever else into my head in 2 weeks. I'm working on
a payment posting page for the company, which includes a form, utilizing
javascript. After the javascript does it's thing to validate that all the
required fields are not black, I want to activate a servlet. This servlet
will obtain several of the values (3 values) from the original web page,
access a database local to the host, and then create a new page with some
data that it retrieves from the database (basically confirms the patient's
name).

I'm fooling around with the HELLO WORLD Servlet, and I'd like to modify it,
but I can't quite figure out exactly where I am supposed to copy NEW
servlets that I create. Where do I put them in the Tomcat directory?

The root directory we have for Apachee Tomcat is: C:\Program Files\Business
Objects\Tomcat

Where from this root folder should I copy my new compliled java classes
that I create?

Thanks, I appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the client app. Having debugged my way through it looking at TCP Mon
as I go, the request sent to Tomcat is not correctly encoded. However, the much
simpler test finally dawned on me. Telnet with MKCOL /webdav/test%3Bcol doesn't
work either so I will investigate further. However, once this is fixed (assuming
a fix is possible) there will still be a lot of things broken on the client
side.

virtual host doesn't load database content

2005-10-05 Thread matador
ok so i define my connection pools etc in a context.xml for localhost:

C:\Tomcat 5.5\conf\Catalina\localhost\context.xml

and it works.

but when the site is accessed from the virtual host defined in server.xml,
then the context.xml (deployed as described below) does not ever see the
connection pools

i tried it as follows, no joy:

C:\Tomcat 5.5\conf\Catalina\struts.acme.com\context.xml
C:\Tomcat 5.5\conf\Catalina\struts.acme.com\context.xml.default
C:\Tomcat 5.5\conf\Catalina\struts.acme.com\struts.xml
C:\Tomcat 5.5\conf\Catalina\struts.acme.com\struts.acme.com.xml

only ever works from server.xml

is there a workaround? i know im not the only one:
