He he. We shall see :)

Well I'm sure only of the following:
 1. Blocking sockets outperforms NIO
 2. NIO scales better

So the ideal would be to have them both at once.
Perhaps one day the Sun will accept some of my ideas and
allow to intermix the blocking and nonblocking IO.

That sounds great! Nice idea. Never thought about it.

Let's say... something like a hybrid solution... that would be interesting.

Until then, well, I have 64 bit JVM and a 1GB RAM for couple of bucks,
 and APR of course :)

Great, but I think that the links/elinks options should be:
--dump --no-references --no-numbering --no-home
That's at least for the elinks, but I suppose the links should
have something similar.

Just using dump will make the output pretty unfriendly ;)
In fact, the reason why I choose w3m was because it can give
a very clean .txt output.

Not sure. Lot's of obsolete things that need a simple cleanup.

I can only tell the current CVS is the best ever mod_jk we had.
If it builds on all platforms (ant it does AFAICT),
we should go for the release ASAP.

There are just too many things that has been fixed since last stable,
that we should ignore or try to wait much further.

fixed in configure.in : use the libtool we delivered with the tarball.
If you build from cvs then update your libtool, the one your using is broken.

I found this bug while googling around for a similar problem in another
application and I'm updating this
as a service to anyone else that has run into this with Tomcat.

The bug seems to be in Windows Server 2003 and is fixed with Service Pack 1.

Re: cvs commit: jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/tools jkrelease.sh

2005-07-01 Thread Peter Rossbach

Hey,

I can build the binaries for suse 9.3, 9.1 and I hope for MAC OS X 10.4

I am ready to commit an ant task to represent current apache jk status
show command result.
I am no sure that the jkstatus ant task are a new submodule from
jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/ (my current place) or
better integrate inside catalina core o.a.c.ant.jkstatus subpackage. I
used the o.a.c.ant.BaseRedirectorHelperTask for output and

error handling.

Jkstatus ant task todo
- docs
-integrate also the JkStatusUpdate Task
-Represent and update the apaches also with a MBean.

Not sure. Lot's of obsolete things that need a simple cleanup.

Ok I will start to clean bugzilla.

I can only tell the current CVS is the best ever mod_jk we had.
If it builds on all platforms (ant it does AFAICT),
we should go for the release ASAP.

I will test it on BS2000, if it builds and runs there it is ready for a release!

There are just too many things that has been fixed since last stable,
that we should ignore or try to wait much further.

Regards,
Mladen.

Well, if that's the case, why is it required for shut down? I would have gotten
rid of AJP12 a long time ago, were it not required for this one function.

Suggestions:
1- implement the shutdown function in AJP13 and truly deprecate AJP12 -- even
better, remove it entirely, since it's broken.

2- document the fact that AJP12 should only be used to shutdown the server and
nothing else, since it's broken and won't be fixed. Come on, just a release
note would do it.

O just installed tomcat 5.5.9 and got the same problem. This hasn't been
corrected in release 5.5.7? I already read the other bug reports and doesn't
seems to me that the bug has been solved, that's because I'm reopening this.

I'll try to analyse the sources to find out some way I can contribute.

Summary: error count for http connector and localhost/ default
context seem to increment for no reason: mbean bug?
   Product: Tomcat 5
   Version: 5.5.9
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: major
  Priority: P2
 Component: Catalina
AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

whenever i access any web application deployed on tomcat, i notice that error
count for localhost/ default[/] increments (request count also increments, not
sure either if request count is suppose to increment..). http connector error
count also increments. i'm checking these counter values via the tomcat
manager web application as well as through my own servlet which accesses
tomcat mbeans.

even without deploying any of my own web applications (ie just after fresh
install of tomcat and w/o changing any default configuration), if i go to the
tomcat manager web application and continuously refresh it, it'll increment
error count for localhost/ default[/] and for http8080 each time i do the
refresh. there doesn't seem to be any error, so not sure why these counters
are incrementing..

i've asked on tomcat-dev and tomcat-users aliases, but haven't gotten any
response back. so seems to be a bug with the tomcat mbean implementation..

here are the specific counters from http://myserver:8080/manager/jmxproxy
(indicated by ):

Name: Catalina:type=GlobalRequestProcessor,name=http8080

processingTime: 17
maxTime: 16
minTime: 0
requestCount: 19

please let me know if you need any additional info.

thanks.

It's been brought to my attention that Ant already has a mechanism for resolving
file paths regardless of the os/filesystem/etc. I've incorporated that and have
also made sure that the webXml and webxmlFragment paths are also correctly
interpreted.

Once this bug is a duplicate and will not be changed, should I assume
getRequestURL() behaviour won't change, despite it's return value isn't
consistent with servlet specification? Or is it consistent? Should I look for
another solution, change my code?

I'm sorry for the inconvenient question, but I'm really looking for
clarification here.

The return value is as required by SRV8.4

The javadocs are, in my view, misleading as none of them take any account of the
requirements of SRV8.4

If you want the original request, then obtain it as per SRV.8.4.2

There was some debate about this change on the tomcat-dev list but the
conclusion was that the current behaviour is the correct one.

Re: summer of code - next steps

Would this work? Or request restricted access to only
- jakarta-tomcat-jasper
- jakarta-tomcat-catalina/webapps/balancer

The user id id would be prefixed or suffixed with soc. This also assumes no
binding voting rights.

Thoughts?
- Drop the soc from the userid ?
- Let them be full committers ?
- Other?

Since tomcat seems to be one of the last ones in cvs - I am not sure how
using svn will work with respect to this.

Do we need a vote so we can make the appropriate requests to infrastructure?

SF CVS doesn't work well enough IMO. Maybe the ASF will have a
repository that can be used as a staging area.

- Full commit for the student

I suspect it could happen fairly quickly.

We've been planning to give the students commit access to just their section
of code, or an entirely separate repository. Remy's suggestion of SVN first
is good, because SVN allows configuring commit access to users on a
directory level.

We're in a bit of a bind. I don't want to let them be full committers:
that's a hard-earned privilege. Same thing for the @apache.org address, so
I want to keep the soc prefix.

But we use CVS, and I don't think CVS supports directory-specific commit
privileges. We'd have to make a branch for them, assuming CVS supports
branch-specific commit privileges?
