Why not file the bug as "Host aliases are not mapped correctly" ? It should have
been clear for you too that the bug has nothing to do with the manager. Of
course, the issue here is very simple, so it's not a big issue.

Remy,
  Do you expect that everyone knows that alias mapping was not implemented?  I
was just reporting behavior that seemed abnormal.  I hope you don't expect
everyone to sift through the HEAD and every possible discussion on dev where its
often not even clear exactly what things are being implemented.  I did some
searches on the lists for alias and manager and got lots of hits.  I read
through a reasonable number of these without locating any resolution so I opened
a bug.  Please excuse.

I think you should look into issues more before filing bugs. The problem here
was that alias mapping  was not implemented in the new mapper. The issue has
nothing to do with the manager webapp.
This has now been implemented, and will be in 5.0.4.
