You have received this email for one of two reasons. One is that you or someone with your email address in their address book is infected with an email virus, and this virus was emailed to me. The other reason could be that you legitimately tried to contact me through one of my addresses listed on various web sites, in which case I apologize for the inconvenience. I have had to disable all of my old email addresses because of the threat of viruses. Please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] for more information. This will reach me directly. Vacation
FYI: I'll be in vacation between Sep 1 and Sep 21. I'll read the mail from time to time, but probably not answer too much. I'm 'pre' voting +1 on the release of tomcat4.1 and on the release of jk1.2 and jk2.0beta - preferably using the same tag and date. I consider all of them stable and good enough. I'll spend some time in planes, and I plan to do a bit of work. Most likely I'll have fun with the JNDI/JMX configuration - I'll try to get some basic context for the jk2 config and switch jk2 to jndi as a first step. I also have some ideas for the hook mechanism in coyote, and some ant itches. If you have any proposal you know I don't like - now is the time to make it :-) -- Costin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I agree - it may even be the best place. It's very low-level code, it must be part of and integrated in the connector - and upper levels should use it. Most of the performance comes from the lower level, the protocol and the connector implementation is going to be critical - and having control over the low-level representation is very important. The only problem is that right now ( with 3.3 so close ) we may have to keep them in sync. But we can try ( if Larry is ok with that ) to change the build scripts and use a single copy - in jtc. I'm not sure - we'll still have a number of bug fixes and probably few small improvements. The buffers do belong to jakarta-tomcat-connectors/util, and in a perfect world we wouldn't have them duplicated - 3.3 should only use what's in connectors. I wouldn't mind making tomcat-connectors/util the "master" source for the buffer stuff, but it needs some changes in the build scripts. I'm not sure how other people would feel about this - we are very close to 3.3beta. Costin

Vacation
Hi, Next week I'll be in vacation - not sure how much mail I'll be able to read. Most of the big changes needed for encoding are commited, there are many small things still to be done - but I don't expect anything major to be needed. Besides bug fixing and minor tunings I don't have anything else planned for 3.3 - encoding was my biggest item, everything else I need can be implemented in (external) modules. I've also done the import into jakarta-tomcat-jasper, and it's close to be usable for all new performance enhancements ( I hope to get it working before leaving ). Regarding the connector - sorry I didn't had more time to spend on it, but I'll be able to help more after I'll be back. I plan to do a re-implementation of the java side of Ajp13/14, and also to do some optimizations on the JNI side, and I'll try to help with the config stuff ( if Henri doesn't finish it before I get a chance to help :-) If someone could import the new buffer stuff - it would be great. Costin ( Please don't start too many flame-wars while I'm gone - my mailbox has a size limit :-)
