mod_jserv instead of
mod_jk and it works fine
We use mod_jk with Tomcat and Apache on a number of servers and have
never seen this problem. I honestly don't believe mod_jk has anything
to do with it.

'tomcat.sh' script; $TOMCAT_HOME/lib is right, so assuming on your
machine $TOMCAT_HOME is /var/tomcat you've put it in the right place.
Be aware, of course, that if you *don'T* start tomcat with the standard
scripts, your on your own.
