Logger: concatenate, not delete??

Hi

Using Tomcat 3.2.1 on Linux. 

Tomcat deletes the logfile (tomcat.log) everytime it's restarted. 
How can I have him not to that, but keeps addign the log to the same file?

This is how it looks like in my server.xml: 

[...]

    <Logger name="servlet_log"
            path="logs/tomcat.log"
            verbosityLevel = "DEBUG"
[...]
