Hi, this is simply not supported in EL! I submitted this already as an enhancement https://jsp-spec-public.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=134 But it won't be in the next release in JSP 2.1, that's for sure. So you need to do a workaround: - Use a bean to retrive the constant - write an EL function
