In the server.xml you have to define a context like <Context path="/holidayspots" docBase="C:/Apache/Tomcat/webapps/holidayspots/jsp" ......................> in the same location you have web.xml you will find the last entry(most of the times) <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file> <welcome-file>index.htm</welcome-file> <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list>
