Have you tried hitting http://localhost:8080 to verify that tomcat is intsalled and running properly? If it is, click through some of the example JSP apps to make sure that the javac compiler is installed and can be found by tomcat. I would also double check the JAVA_HOME and CATALINA_HOME

You don't need to set your classpath. Tomcat does that for you. You should double check that your JAVA_HOME environment variable is set properly. From the command line type: %JAVA_HOME%\bin\javac You should see a menu of switches for the compiler. If not, check to see where your JAVA_HOME
