Hi Bob,
I had a look at your QTH via Google Earth. Would appear that the only
support you have is your tower. And on something like a 65 x115 corner
city lot.How tall is your tower?

I sure wish they were getting on 6m as well. I know there are a LOT of 6m
folks in the 160m ranks.
For all the effort it would take to put up a 3el yagi or even a measely
vertical - - - heck, their 40m antenna
would probably work on 6m...Their K3's already have 6m in them.
Operation will be 160 to 10 mts as they said in the website.

Dave,
Use a well over rated DC blocking capacitor, this is not an application to save
a few pennies by using a marginally rated capacitor.
You should also use a choke to ground with a high current rating to protect
your receiver if the capacitor shorts out. A choke wound with #18 wire on a
Hi Guy,
You are pretty close Guy ! My little lot is only 65 x 120. I have two masts

They are right next to the fences.

Prompted by Roger, N1RJ, I decided to do some digging around. Aided
by isolating specific stages of my receive signal path as much as
possible, and using precision 3 and 6 dB pads at various points to
see where they dropped the IMD more than the attenuation of the
pad(s), I have come up with a
Hi Paul:
I have tried and tested many commercial and homebrew preamps for use on the

Hello David:
This is an interesting question - and my love for the HyTower antenna design
promoted me to do a quick Google search for plans for NDB transmitting
antennas. This search yielded a ton of information. Some of it looks very
useful as you think about a possible design for your LF RX
Paul you might want to be careful just shorting the
receiver input. This would also put a short on the
output of your preamp. This would have the preamp
blasted with RF from your TX while trying to feed a
short. My guess would be you could destroy
preamps doing this.

Paul, I will agree with Lee. I think the best would be to use a small relay
that would open the antenna on transmit and also short it to GND. Nothing
touching the Pre-Amp.
