Like ZL3IX, I also had very poor results with a Beverage travelling too close
to a fence. F/B was bad but even worse was coupling of noise picked up by the
fence.
WRT a second Bev on the same post, 12-18 is far too close to space the two
wires. I have several Bevs which cross at something

Is this the Beverage above the fence that you mean, Greg?

That was a good article.

I can understand why a fence would be a problem. Theoretically at least
parallel Beverages should have no radiation/coupling. But that then means an
absolutely perfectly balanced and terminated pair of lines.
The closest I had a parallel pair was years ago and with Slinkys. After
having one up
I missed the original post, but if the question pertains to running two
independent beverages in opposite directions on the same supports - Yes. It
works well.
I began doing this last winter, adding shorter, opposite direction beverages to
my NE and NNW (EU and JA) antennas. Performance
Jeff, EZNEC confirms what you and Neil have found.
Modelling Neil G0JHC's antenna with 1000ft beverages at 12ft and 10ft,
offset by 30ft length-wise, shows almost identical patterns to a single
beverage.
Terminating both ends of the unused bev improves the f/b as one might
expect, but does not
If you terminate both ends though, isn't it easier just to use one wire and
relay switch between the feeder and termination R?

John,
Yes, if both beverages are to be the same length, a single wire will work in
both directions. I take this approach on the E/W antenna: It's a single-wire
with transformers at each end and two runs of co-ax to the shack. For this
particular antenna, that was the cheapest / most-robust
Mike,
You are willing to run 2 coax cables and have 2
transformers, but don't want to bother with remote relays,
etc. You could simply have a single wire, terminated at
each end by a transformer. Run from each transformer a
coax to the shack. Use a DPDT relay or manual switch in
the shack to
The bidirectional Beverage antenna was patented by Harold Beverage in 1922:

If you cant elevate the RG-6 then find some surplus CATV hardline and remote

action that eliminates most switching problems; I bought 100 from Electronic

The Terro is a semi liquid gel that ants walk on and touch with their

Place it inside the switch box or some other place snoops cant find.

A few hours ago I mentioned them and then an online flyer comes thru. This
is a different one than what I bought but the specs are similar. Use
sections in parallel for DPDT.
