Wish I had an antenna here in MT DN45 for 160, but that can't be. Second
best option was to remote operate my station in EM69, even though I can't
switch RX antennas remotely (Yet! That will change before next TBDC)... So
I switched between the TX and the north beverage (the least directional
Hi all,
I think we had the worst prop of any SP test since I have been in ZL.
In the first darkness period (15z to 1650z there was not a single USA or
KH6 station audible. Usually there are several left coasters on around
their sunrise. Just 2 JAs, 3 VKs and 2 ZLs in that session.

Poor also from Fairbanks, Ak. Listened both nights off and on. But in the end
it was the burning end of my Inv-L that called timeout.
Apparently my coated stranded wire had a covering defect at the far end where
it was suspended in a tree…the voltage node melted the pull-up rope and down it
well, last night about 0600z i went out and heard signals on the NC183,
and my 211 PA was able to light dimly the 300 watt dummy load light bulb,
so i worked about ten stations.

I was driving all day to get home from holiday visits so I had a short SP
for me. I needed CA and AK to finish my WAS 160m for CW and I did manage
two CA contacts so hopefully they will confirm on LOTW, but I never heard or
saw a AK on the spots.
Anyway I made a few contacts before diner
Hello brethren,
It is somewhat reconciliating to know that conditions were ugly everywhere. I
invested some 9 plus ours to get only 52 qs. The best distance DX was KH6AT,
Bryce was loud and gave me good points. Other DX worked OA4TT, P4/DL6RAI,
HK1MW, KV4FZ, HI8A. I heard but was not heard by

Yes, but generally not workable for (at least) two reasons. First,
they're listening to EU. Second, we hear them here (CA)
Alex,
I went to the freq that you were spotted but never heard you. I called
blind several times, maybe you heard me, but nothing heard from you. Have
heard and worked you previously with fair signals.
Condx were very poor.

Calling blind ?!?!?! One of the first rules, if you cant hear ‘em, dont call
‘em.

Hi All
I need some help in trying to get an antenna that will cover both 80 and 160,
What I was planning is a Inverted L with a 75 ft Vertical section of Aluminum
tube and the rest tied off to a convenient tree, what I would like to add is a
80m vertical wire spaced off the main aluminum
Trevor,
For 160m I have a 75ft irrigation pipe vertical (4 3 inch pipe) with two
50ft top hat wires wires. For 80m I run a #10, 65ft wire with 12 inch
homebrew fiberglass stand offs up the side of the irrigation pipe. At the
base, I have two separate matching devices that I manually change to
Hi,
tomorrow evening or after tomorrow I will travel by car from Berea, KY to
Miami, FL.
Would be nice to meet some HAM radio friends in to Miami Region, Florida.
My sister, girlfriend and me will meet New 2015 Year in Florida. Next
weekend is ARRL Roundup. Would be fine to be part of some Multi

Hello all...
please forgive me if this is a not so smart question I ask it because after
having done some research, both with ON4UN’s book and on this site I’ve not
really seen an answer. Several people have posed this question over a number of
years with nary a reply...

Hi all,
I decided again to be a masochist and run
another contest QRP when there is a
perfectly fine Alpha War horse 18 away. I
have to say not being able to contact
stations you hear clearly is a significant
irritant. Yes, the joy of being the
underdog is at times over-rated. Still, I

Pretty risky, I'd say. Lots of things work that shouldn't. Is that
good? Not usually. Those things often lead to worse.
Sounds more like Ray has been reading an old Hugh Cassidy piece:
Paraphrasing: 'How will you ever know if they come back to you?' How
will they come back if you don't call...'
Oh yes, another vent I didn't mention...
The (let me be nice with my brethren),
over achievers who CQ and have their
machines set so fast to refire that they
don't begin to listen for a reply.
There were more than several of these gems

something out:
Hello Gary,
I struggled with this for some time and then one day it occurred to me to
simply slant some verticals in Eznec at the angle in question. The only affect
in reasonably small angles that I could detect was that the takeoff angle
simply followed the ground slope. That is: the angle

Then a station started calling and calling, usually while the V55V was
