Hi Topbanders,
I have been reading the article "Compact 4 squares and other ways to get gain
on 40, 80 and 160m" written by K9RS and N9NB. It is very interesting.
Someone on the list with experience can answer few questions off the list.

Never say never. I worked them at 02:13 last night (Thanks Roger for
the email today saying you'd heard the contact). It was right after

Last night we had storms so I didn't listen on 160 because I had already
worked VP8STI on 160 the previous day, however Wednesday night/Thursday
morning VP8STI propagation was not unlike the same thing that often
happens here in Alabama. Up until about 0515Z (Jan 21) they were at ESP

I am rather confuse about how is working propagation to Argentina from VP8STI
considering we are not far away and propagation to VP8ALJ from us just follows
a more standard behavior.
From the first night, 40 mts propagation to them was as it has to be. On 80 mts
it is a little strange because U
Tree, the conditions to VP8 were much worse last night to my location.
I did not hear them at all last night where I had heard them briefly the night
before.
In addition, the storm noise to the SE was quite noticeable.
Dan W5XZ in TX confirmed that he had bad storm static in the area.

No real copy on VP8STI here in central CA on TB either night. The BEST I've
been able to hear on my K9AY loop has been a very few brief periods of pips and
squeaks in the noise that MAY have been VP8STI, but not even enough to discern
a '5NN' or anything close to legible copy. Pretty much the sa

Thanks for the info.
Didn't hear a peep last night here in Napa County on 80 or160.
Yes if it was easy wouldn't it be as rewarding. !
I managed to work them on 40CW a couple of nights ago and I'm in the log
wahoo !!
That was my one and only contact and I consider myself lucky. :-)

Thanks guys for all the input - no pun intended.
What I have been considering, is to install a 4 square receive system,
offset from my Bog's by 45 degrees.
The two systems could then be phased as needed, for interference redux, or
signal improvement.

What I use here is relatively simple in hooking up the NCC-1 Phaser.
The output on the unit, of courses, goes to the radio and in my case
