Very big CONGRATS, MarkI remember waiting months to work my first JA on TB...a bit frustrating, because I'd worked much EU, some VK, etc. in 2007-8, and was wondering what was up since I was on the West Coast in Monterey, near the Pacific Ocean.  Worked several finally, then many...now, ZS

Huge day for me this morning After several years of trying, I worked my first VK on Top Band! Well, actually my first 2 Vks!! Ron VK3IO had the honors at about 1045Z. Here's a recording of him CQing later at 1051Z, which is about 30 minutes before my local SR:

Not sure how long they were on,  but I remember it was the years of decent propagation My experience hearing them was at the sunrise and sunset time to KH6.   I could hear many OH stations and at no time was OH8X signal  better than the other OH stations, many OH were stronger.  If I remember

Sounds like SNOTEL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNOTEL In 1976, the ARRL SW Division convention was held here in Tucson. The local club sponsor hadn't done anything toward serious VHF programs, so Steve, then W7RUC, now W7CI, and yours truly, arranged a VHF breakfast meeting at the convention

Does anyone know when OH8X was active on 160? The RBN archive goes back to 2009, snd it would be fairly easy to mine the archive. 73 Pete N4ZR Sent from my iPhone > On Mar 30, 2018, at 3:50 PM, cqtestk4xs--- via Topband > wrote: > > > Another thought on this. > >

Seems like this is a matter of personal preference, where our individual interest lies, and what motivates us to operate. Some of you may know my attempts to activate XW on the lowbands these past few years. My success on Topband to the US, most difficult path, has been limited at best. It

Jimmy Sullivan W7EJ (SK) had a rotary dipole up for 160 meters at his CN2R station. You can still see the antenna as his CN2R site is still up. It came down in a wind storm in 2009, and I have no real knowledge of how well it worked but one might contact Dick W7ZR for information as he did

This is an interesting discussion related to FT8. In 1973 (a whole 45 years ago!) when I worked for Boeing Electronic Products in Seattle, they had a commericial (not ham radio) meteor scatter station. An ASR-33 at the master station in Seattle would send what amounted to "CQ" to a system of

Yep, automatic TTY networks go back a lot more than 50 years. Certainly with the Model 19 in the 1940s and probably before that. The ASR-33 and its "stunt box" are a true marvel of low cost mechanical engineering. Send WRU, asking "who are you?" And the automatic answer back - "HERE IS" a
