G'day Dave (and all)
Your observation that the low sunspot numbers does not bring good conditions
to 160m definitely holds for VK6.
Mike VK6HD told me he had observed this over several sunspot cycles when I
first became active on 160m from VK6 in 1995.
Most of the best DX conditions I've

Although there was no LP prop into NA today, I had the best European
propagation since 1 November, working 12 Europeans.
The prop was very much spotlight, favouring Italy, Serbia, Hungary and Greece
(SV1EOG/7 was a genuine 589), but I did work R8, OH and SM as well.

I am playing with a NCC-2 trying to see if it can be of benefit in improving
the S/N ratio. Currently I have a 600 foot Beverage toward Europe and a BOG

Hello JC,
There is nothing to disagree about JC, My 20 to 24 foot elements when fed
into a Hi-Z amp produce a signal that is around 20 dB less than a good TX
vertical. Your Waller flags produce a signal that is 40 to 50 dB below a TX
vertical. What I said was that because of this

Gary. if you are still reading this thread. I have a very early K9AY loop
and mast kit. I believe my relay box was the second version where you went
from DC/AC control to a three wire DC relay voltage system. The antenna
mast kit used galvanized timber spikes, if that helps date the system.

I have one of JC's Waller Flags on a 40 foot boom at 95 feet.. It is fed
with LMR-600 at the tower base XFMR where the 100 ohm twin-ax
terminates. It is use with a K-3 in diversity receive with a Hi-Z 8

Hi Jim and Lee
Before we agree that we disagree, let me elaborate on few basic concepts for a
good design. Point by point and let me know which one you disagree.

cable shield, a solid # 4 wire external surface is
