It’s toxic to cats. Keep that in mind if you have cats and let them out.

Note that Permethrin is deadly fatal to cats. I didn't know that until I read

After you walk in that area, go over your clothes with one of those sticky-tape
clothes rollers. That should pick up any tiny ticks that have latched on.

Around here (SW Missouri) a wood tick is a lot larger than any other tick.
They are fat little buggers with a greenish tint.
I thought dog ticks were similar in size and appearance to lone star ticks.
But I may very well be wrong. Google knows!! :-)

You may not see a deer tick. They are much smaller than the more common
dog tick - the deer tick is about the size of the period at the end
Bruce,
I am 10 miles from Lyme, CT and my
property abuts a deer filled State park &
marsh. After a lot of research I found the
best option for me is to spray my yard
with Permethrin. Here in CT you can't get
the high concentration version but you can
in 48 other states including Maine.
From experience, you don't always get a bulls-eye.

It's just the beginning of the thunderstorm season here (it's late) so I needed

It was a balmy104F while I was doing this but a small price to pay for not
having any ticks.

Personally, my defense is to be very aware of the foliage and when I am
needing to be in the grassy green areas that ticks hang out I have full
coverage other than my face. I have never gotten a tick doing that. I will
purposely do that work when its cooler to allow me to properly cover.

This is generally good advice. However, those just-hatched "seed" ticks do
not wash off in the shower. (Don't ask me how I know that. :-) And usually,
you find dozens of those little buggers crawling all over you at once.
There are tick removing tools, such as the The Tick Key. That one needs to

Yes a modest flock of chickens may be the most practical tick protection.

BTW, tick granules (the only type I have ever used) would only kill the
ticks near the ground.

Have a Beverage antenna that goes through a dense wooded area. Two
species of Ticks are everywherelately.
Anyone have information of a drone that could disperse tick poison
