Like Jeff, I had the pleasure of participating in the 160 Meter Call List.
Jack W4OWJ was always one of the first to give you a call along with Jim
K1MEM (SK), Bill K1MM, Wal W8LRL, Dave KJ9I and many others.
As recent as last year, a phone call, not a spot made it
The signal on 1810 has been positively identified, and located ! One of our
topbanders has
triangulated it right down to the exact location, and done it from 800 miles
away in Indiana.
The credit goes to Don, WD8DSB, with a yard full of Pennants, and the expertise
to use
them. He directed
Like others here, I was on a call list at one time though it was when
I lived in Lafayette Louisiana and it was from one of the members of
Acadiana DX association. I never met Jack nor did I get a call from
him but I remember how grateful I was to get a 3AM call to work a new

on 1810 is being contacted through the station engineer.
Likely - there won't be a response until Monday.
This issue is trying to be solved without involving the FCC

Jack's efforts on the Topband need list -- on paper and sent via snail
mail -- helped me and others work many new ones on the band in the '80s
and '90s. The telephone alerts were a valuable tool and we had many
