Topband: 4L spacing question on TB

2016-11-02 Thread JAMES
I have been trying to study impact of spacing on RDF etc with the DXE 4L receiving system using 106 inch active vertical antennas with phasing. Their ad says 54 ft min spacing on TB. My spacing would come close to that on our small lakeside lot. Two elements would be anchored in the lake. It is

Hi Gary We plan to set up ours with 60' spacing for best 40m performance, and with just 10' elements.. When it is done we will be able to compare the performance on 80 and 160 with our monoband 8 circles. I agree that power gain is not important, particularly in our high QRN environment. AFAIK

Thanks Bob, 70’ is what Lee use to offer ... I had a 4 sq with those dimensions (it was stolen out of a self storage unit however). I believe Lee would do cabling for either 70’ or 60’. My main focus is still 160 with 80 as the second ... but I don’t want to neglect 40 as spring/summer/fall

Hi Luis,   Your question about the BOG wire.   After my last email thinking possibly you were writing  about single wire BOGs. In this case the wire size is not important other than large enough not to break.. The insulation should be good I like plastic insulation.   My opinion:

I can't help about BOG questions but... For those who do not read Spanish (or most other languages) you can find out what you can not understand, here: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chro me-instant=1=2=UTF-8#q=transla te It is an on-line translator. Here is what it translates that

Hello Luis,   The BOG wire is not the gauge of the wire, but the impedance. Many transformer  suppliers are using 150 ohms.   BOG antennas react with the earth it rest (sits) upon. The BOG length to get a good pattern varies a lot with the local earth. It is basically a one band antenna,

Gary and others, As I said losing 6 dB + on the 4-8 Pro by going to the smaller diameter array down to 84.84 feet in diameter will be no problem whatsoever. There are still many users using the arrays with the original Hi-Z amps which had a loss of 6 dB. You are using amps with 6 dB more

I'm in mid-coast Maine. W1AW is in Newington CT.  On a good low angle night I can see over 20DB front to back on their signals..   To night I see 6db at best. This  can be from aurora,...  or when 10 meters is"hopping" with signals most of them North-South, 160 meters is not so

I just purchased a HiZ 8 element array ... and am trying to decide which way I want to go. I want a bit better performance on 40 than the standard 80’ spacing provides (lobes are quite high angled) ... and going down to 70’ improves 40 a good bit – going to 60’ even more so (and improves, from
