I use my mobile rig to track down such noises (an IC-706Mk2G with a KJ7U
160-6m screwdriver antenna and 2/440 whip). I also have a couple of
small AM and VHF-AM (aircraft band) portable radios when needed.
The closer you get to the noise, the higher in frequency you should be

I would've been another one to jump right on the MEH bandwagon, but after
scanning my log just quickly, this is the DX I worked in the Stew with my
low inverted L 750w (no RX antennas)
W6, DL6, OL1, KV4,S59,F6,FM5 (x2) ,PJ2,CE1,
SN7,OM5,RL3,G4,UU7,E77,LY7,SV3,OK2,UY0, HG8,RN1,F5,
I use a FT817 set to 1.830 and walk through the house, bringing the small
antenna close to any suspect object to check for noise,
anything can be checked that way lamps,washing machine, TV signal decoders,
computers, game boxes etc.
But alas,the neighborhood noise increased a lot and is making
10 matches
