Topband: Resistors 470 ohm 2 watt
If one would look on eBay there are quite a few 470 ohm 2 watt Allen Bradley Carbon Resistors. They are non inductive and perfect for terminating an antenna. 73 Price W0RI _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband

"Metal" or "Ceramic" composition resistor. Maybe Farnell would be ok place to buy from in Europe? http://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dxe-ecm-r470-2 http://www.newark.com/ohmite/oy471ke/resistor-ceramic-470-ohm-2w-10/dp/64K5431 http://uk.farnell.com/ohmite/oy471ke/resistor-ceramic-2w-470r/dp/1462390 Tim N3QE On Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 9:29 AM, K3RAG LB3RE Brobakkenwrote: > > > Hello > > Where do you buy stuff for beverage like 470 ohm non carb resistor for > terminating and cores for 9:1 in US ? > > > 73s Rag > Stein-Roar LB3RE > _ > Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband > _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband

If there's a reason to avoid carbon composition, Ohmite and KOA manufactures ceramic composition resistors in their OX (1-watt)/OY (2-watt) product line. In the U.S., these resistors are available from Mouser, Digikey, Newark/Element 14, Allied, and Arrow Express. Regarding toroid cores, W0BTU has assembled a nice compendium of data on the subject. Those are likely Ohmite type OY 2 watt ceramic/metal composition resistors. They are non-inductive and are the preferred choice for Beverage terminations. They will survive higher surge currents from nearby lightning strikes than carbon composition. http://www.ohmite.com/catalog/pdf/ox_oy_series.pdf Mouser Electronics # 588-OY-470-E The cores are Fair-Rite # 2873000202 (Amidon BN-73-202). Newark/Farnell has them, I believe. 73, Mike www.w0btu.com On Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 9:10 AM, william radicewrote: > A carbon resistor is what you need, NOT a non-carbon. A carbon resistor is what you need, NOT a non-carbon. You can get them here...among other places. Topband: Under the FWIW
In 1974, I was commissioned as a US Army 2Lt and assigned to the Signal Corps. After summer break, I reported to Ft Gordon for Signal Basic training. Among the many disciplines we covered was how to teach a class. I decided to do a class on radio waves and how they propagate. After a Chalkboard presentation describing propagation, I used a small HF transmitter and fluorescent light To prove the existence of "radio waves" to the class. I was the only one in the class with a ham license and one of two who knew and could use Morse code to communicate. The second class I did was demonstrate "binary communications" with a older LT from Cambodia. Enough of my nostalgia. Craig K1QX PS For those who were in the Army, the TAMMS 38-750, The Army Maintenance Management System, was the most BORING class at Gordon _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
