Topband: E51D tonight

2023-09-07 Thread Wes Stewart via Topband
George,
I think I was the first through on FT8  I had previously decommissioned the 160
Inverted L for the season after working you on CW, but decided to fill out my
Bingo card with an FT8 QSO.  (Not my favorite mode, but we have a friendly "who
works the most slots" club competition so it's necessary).  So I braved the
cholla cactus patch this afternoon to get the loading wire back in service.
I could still use you on 40 and 60 FT8, but that's probably not in the cards.
It's been fun.  Thanks,
Wes  N7WS

Re: Topband: Last night on top band for E51D

2023-09-07 Thread GEORGE WALLNER

Hi Jim,
I never got anything on TB at or just after our SS. We are south of the
Equator and the ITCZ thunderstorms are still pretty strong this early in the
evening, putting a lot of QRN between us and NA (and EU). Things calm down
after 0900 Z and NA comes in mostly strong.

Re: Topband: E51D was banging in this morning at 579 hr in Ohio right through moderately heavy QRN.

2023-09-07 Thread W3HKK
on 3523.1 khz. started out Q4 but around 0900z built up to a solid
579 and armchair copy on my 52 ft vertical leg 80m INV-L ( essentially
a qtr wave vert) but as it is still lawn mowing season, it was working
against a single ground rod. All 26 radials are coiled up and hanging
from a Black Walnut tree.

TNX George for a new band and QSOs with W3HKK, W8TNX and WW8OH as you
live the Good Life in the South Pacific, and take the time to share it
with us!

 Hi George,

Thank you for the 80 cw qso at 0921z this morning - you were a solid
589
 in CT!

Unfortunately I missed you on Tuesday on 160 CW when cndx were
 apparently excellent.

Will you be on 160 cw tomorrow ~ 10z? (just before first light in W1)
Will you also be on 40 CW?
I still need North Cook on CW on both bands and would appreciate the
 opportunity to work you.

 Tnx & 73

 Bob, KQ2M
