Ran a basic EZNEC model with no tower present for your 80 ft X 45 ft
inverted L at 1.825 Mhz. The base impedance for this is 28.5 - j 130
ohms. The get rid of the reactance I extended the top wire an
additional 20 ft so 80 X 65 ft and base impedance is 37.2 + j0. The
tower is
Hi Dietmar
Was able to make a CW contact with ZL1AZ at his SS, 0715 UTC Thursday.
I am in Northern New Jersey so an 8900 mile 2 way QSO to New Zealand.
The propagation is there. Just need to get thru the noise (basically). I
have a strong bias toward CW and only resort to FT8 when the DX
Hi Brian
Again thanks for getting on 160 as there is propagation to be had. I was
able to work ZL1AZ (CW) at his SS last night, 0715 UTC. He was strong
here in NNJ (east coast). I see your SS is about 0722 UTC so will start
listening 30 minutes before.

So far yesterday (Wednesday) morning was the best I heard George for his
KH8 run here in Northern New Jersey. Did hear him very light this
morning also but could not copy clean. When he went to 80 meters at
12:00 UTC he was stronger for me and could copy him fairly well. Made a

Worked Luke VK3HJ here in NNJ at 1824.500 at 6:50 AM this morning. Signal 55N
both sides. I was running TT Orion, 100 watts into a HyGain 18HT vertical with
inverted L kit. Also using the transmit antenna on receive. Really a good
morning.

Thanks for the heads up.
Just worked them on 160 with 100 watts and the inverted L.

A little hard to tell what you mean by port. Do you mean the RCS-10 port or a
port on the transceiever ?
I understand you to mean that when you bypass the RSC-10 antenna switch and
feed the inverted-L directly, the inverted-L works OK on 160 meters ?
I mentioned back on 12/31 that RF at
of the antenna , move the switch to the otherside
of the tower so there is about 4-5 feet from the Inv-L. I can't afford to burn
up anything else.
I will report the results.

Checking the spacing chart, an air gap of 1.0 mm (0.040 in.) will work at this
voltage.
If possible, take a look at the system a see how close this analysis is.

A couple of thoughts...
When transmitting, is the RCS-10 antenna switch inadvertantly changing
(switching) antennas (ports) during the transition from receive to transmit,
possibly RF getting into the switching circuit causing this ? Do you lose the
12VDC to the switch when changing from
