Topband: HIZ 8 Circel Diameter.....

2018-03-03 Thread dl8yhrfrank--- via Topband
Hi everyone...
Did annyone has experience in using more wide spacing the 8 circel rx
arrya?
Im running the hiz 8a lv2 160-2 arrya in a 200 foot spacing in the fields on a
litel hilltop away from
man made noise and have lots off space their so i think about to get it up to
300 foot spacing
to optimize it for 160
Annyone tryed it ore can model it maybe if that will give more performace on
160?
Anny comments vy welcome
Best wishes

2016-03-21 Thread dl8yhrfrank--- via Topband

Hi all..
160m season over soon... so think about new setup off beverages..found
out a new center feedpoint place where i can connect all 8 beverages
with just a few meters coax to a antennaswitch..annyone knows if its
possibile to connect all balun ground connections just to one center
ground point off a cuppertupe some 2.5m in the ground?

Ore does each Beverage need his own ground?

Topband: 160m 27,5m vertikal titanex ore 22m toploaded?

2015-06-05 Thread dl8yhrfrank--- via Topband

 Hi all
im running a 27,5m high titanex v160hd.looking out for improvments..
radialfield is out of 100+radials between 5 and 20m long..
think about 3 options

1 ?? keep it as it is

2 ?? make it shorter arround 22m and set 2 10m long wires ore??? ? ? ?? ??? ???
? maybe? 15 m? 45 degrees down as top load

3?? take? the 2 upper sections of the titanex away and fix a 8m?
? ?? spiderbeam pole inside? so i will get a total high of 32m

ore maybe a shorted delta loop matched with a coil in resonance?

My sapce is vy limited here in the village and maybe someone has tested
differend setups in practice...anny infos vy welcome
i saw many simulations in the web but i like more to get a info from? someone
who tryed realy and know the result real..

Topband: beverage pols

2015-02-05 Thread dl8yhrfrank--- via Topband
 Hi all
i woud like to set my? Beverages from 1m high to 2.5m high..some told me it
will improve them
So now i need new pols to hold the wire
I thought about 1m Aluminiumtube? in the ground and inside that pol a 2m peace
of tropicwood..so distance from Alumminiumpol to the finaly Beveragewire shoud
be arround 1 to 1.5m...annyone has experence if that is enoug distance?Though
about only woodpols but in wet ground it will not survive vy long...

Bob was truly a remarkable person.  Not only did his homebrew skills far
surpass the vast majority of us but he also put out a remarkable signal with
a modest station.  A lot of topbanders may be unaware that Bob's signal came
from a homebrew 42' vertical (yes, forty two foot) .  Capped off with a
hefty top hat and a very good ground radial system, he was able to work the
world daily.  He and I had other shared interests and enjoyed exchanging
emails.  I will surely miss his friendship and his signal on 1824.5 on those
cold, winter morns.

73 Bob. . .rest in peace OM.

I received an email from Jeannie this afternoon. Bob succumbed to the
effects of bladder cancer today. Bob was  many things. He was one heck of a
builder.  His amplifiers won the SERG homebrew competition so many times
that they finally gave him a lifetime achievement award.  He was a fixture
on TopBand and gave many their first VK QSO. He was also a beacon until
recently.  If there was any propagation at all Bob was there to work it.

Over the years Bob and I and I am sure some others developed a
relationship that transcended ham radio. I found that Bob was a fire
communications officer who provided essential communications and control for
the intense fires that happen in that part of Australia amongst other
interests.

Above all Bob was our friend.
Bob told Jeannie his wife  he wanted the following on his grave marker:

  Robert William Briggs..

  ..loving husband of Jeannie..

  ..17 Oct 1942 ---7 July 2014..

  ...vk3zl   s k..

and that is what she will do.
Jeannie can receive your emails at both her email address: Jean Briggs
lt;jab...@bigpond.comgt;

and also she is keeping Bob's account open: vk...@bigpond.com

Hello,

trying to improve my RX setup, I have a question .

When feeding short RX verticals with a coil and resistor in series, does it
make
sense to decouple the feedline
at the feedpoint with a braid breaker ?
