A quick update. Thor, TF4M has stepped up to the plate and sponsored
a plaque for the highest mobile score (for the next four years). You
must be able to make QSOs while in motion - so no fair backing your

needed at least 40 radials (mostly 1/4 wave in my case) to make it
work well.
However, in the end, I went with a 1/4 wave phased array which has

W7YAQ has a MA160V at his QTH. I was able to work VK6 with it with 100
watts - so in Gotham vertical language - it works better than W8JI's
antenna farm.
It's a short vertical. I does work fairly well - but not as good as a full

Not all operators are created equal is likely the simple answer.
The decision to go split should be natural for a good operator when he
notices that people are not responding to him right away. However, not
