 On Tor Browser "8.0a5 (based on Mozilla Firefox 52.7.3) (64-bit)" on
 macOS, the logs from the tor daemon seem to be in UTC (at least when using
 the "Copy Tor Log To Clipboard" button).

 On the other hand, Georg told me at the Rome meeting that Tor Browser sets
 TZ to UTC for anti-fingerprinting but starts the tor process in the local
 time zone.  This seems to match what I've seen in the past, but I don't
 have a working older Tor Browser to check that right now.

 Tor currently logs in UTC when launched by Tor Browser. If we use the OS
 TZ variable, it will log every message in the local timezone, and some
 messages also contain UTC times. Does this cause issues with disk traces,
 or does TBB avoid leaving tor logs around? Do we want users posting logs
 in their local timezone to trac? (Some timezone offsets are quite unique.)

 Excited to see this development!

 One note about heavy refactoring- having sufficient tests in place is
 really helpful before splitting apart large pieces of functionality and
 refactoring. As part of this plan, maybe add a goal to audit existing
 tests/write any more necessary tests ideally as one of the first steps to
 help when touching particularly old/convoluted parts of the code.

 It's possible to have rust build shared object libraries instead of
 static, see the "crate_type" argument in our `Cargo.toml`s and also
 [https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/manifest.html#building-dynamic-
 or-static-libraries this reference page] (we'd just have to add "dylib" to
 the lists, I think). We can even tell it to build both, so desktop systems
 can continue to use static linking and I guess mobile can do dynamic?

 Similar to #25368, we can once again expand upon which Rust types are safe
 to send over the FFI boundary without
 conversion/serialisation/translation, because Rust's `bool` type and C99's
 `bool` type are directly compatible. (I think this also makes an even
 larger argument moving forward for using `bool`s in C wherever it makes
 sense, since otherwise we need to convert between the libc `uint8_t` type
 and the native `u8` in Rust.)

 For a while now, we have had
 `extensions.torlauncher.default_bridge_recommended_type` which causes one
 PT type to be displayed at the top of the list. The remaining PTs are
 sorted alphabetically, but with the recent Tor Launcher redesign (Tor
 Browser 7.5) some are annotated with "works in China", which happens
 because of preferences that look like
 `torlauncher.bridge_suffix.TRANSPORT`. I think that those two things
 together meet the spirit of this ticket.

 We also had a chat about cookie risks today, where the consensus was that
 [javascript from] snowflake.tp.o should feel free to set snowflake.tp.o
 cookies, but it should please avoid setting top-level torproject.org
 cookies. Seems straightforward enough -- hopefully we didn't misunderstand
 some basic principle of cookies in this decision. :)

 This is the dual of #25601.

 It would be a great feature if a client could be connected to multiple
 snowflake proxies at once, and split traffic across all of them. Like the
 [http://cacr.uwaterloo.ca/techreports/2013/cacr2013-16.pdf Conflux]
 proposal for Tor. It would be a hedge against getting assigned a single
 slow proxy.

 This would require interposing some kind of sequencing and reliability
 layer, with possible retransmissions.

 A potential benefit for privacy is that an individual snowflake proxy only
 sees a subset of a client's traffic flow.

 However, instantly making ''N'' WebRTC connections is a tell for traffic
 classification.

 When you go to https://keroserene.net/snowflake/snowflake.html for the
 first time, you get the message "Not opted-in." You have to go to
 https://keroserene.net/snowflake/options.html, click "Yes", then go
 ''back'' to snowflake.html before you start being a proxy. (options.html
 doesn't have the proxy code.)

 The discoverability at https://keroserene.net/snowflake/index.html is
 worse: it doesn't say anything about opting in: you have to intuit that
 you should click on the badge to get to options.html, then go back again
 before you start being a proxy.

 I propose that both these pages should have a Yes/No button right there on
 the page. Clicking Yes should do both:
  1. set the opt-in cookie
  2. start up the proxy (without needing to refresh the page)
 Additionally, options.html should have a copy of the proxy code, so after
 you click Yes, it starts working immediately, without having to go to
 another page.
