 I can also confirm the problem on Ubuntu 18.04, installed from
 deb.torproject.org:

 `Tor 0.3.4.8 (git-5da0e95e4871a0a1) running on Linux with Libevent
 2.1.8-stable, OpenSSL 1.1.0g, Zlib 1.2.11, Liblzma 5.2.2, and Libzstd
 1.3.3.`

 System is on auto-update, problems started on Oct 5th, 10pm UTC. There do
 not seem to have been any updates during that time period.

 Leak fills up memory roughly every 4h and restarts the process. The relay
 is not an exit node, but a fallback-directory. I'm happy to help
 investigating.

 Now that we have our sponsor19 coordination mailing list (#27964), the
 next step is to make a git repo for pulling together our reports.

 The reports themselves will be public, but we're going to be pulling them
 together in private, which is probably best anyway since then people can
 write draft text without worrying about people judging them for it. :)

 So: can we get a git repo for this? A name like 'sponsor19' would work
 fine.

 I guess we need to pick a set of people who can push? Here's a list of
 ldap names who should be able to push: arma kat irl ahf asn dgoulet sysrqb
 art agrabeli arthuredelstein isabela.

 I am ok with limiting read access to these usernames too, or we could make
 it so anybody with an ldap account can read. Whatever is easier.

 And since we don't want it world-readable, I assume there's no need to
 mess with gitweb.

 Good catch! This is indeed not ideal.

 It's even a tiny bit worse than described above: we also include the
 `http` link in other places, for example, when an IP address was not found
 but nearby IP addresses in the same /24 have possible hits. Try searching
 for .170 and look at the HTML sources:

 day of 2018-09-20. But we did find other IP addresses of Tor relays in the
 same /24 network around the time:

 The underlying issue is that we have an Apache running on the metrics host
 that listens on 443 and rewrites to 8080. In our servlet, we don't even
 learn that the request came in via `https`.

 I don't really have an elegant solution. The best thing I can come up with
 is that we pretend that we're living in an HTTPS world now and simply
 rewrite `http` to `https`. And for local testing environments we provide a
 simple configuration option that turns off this internal rewriting.

 Changing to needs_information to collect feedback on this plan. If I don't
 hear otherwise, I'll hack something next week. Unless somebody else wants
 to do it, in which case, please just grab the ticket!

 I think we can merge it after #27441, and update the definition in
 following commits if needed.

 Note: creating a new branch for new revisions of the patches (instead of
 force pushing on the same branch) would make it easier to see what
 changed.

 I don't think we pick this up. If Firefox implements it, great (please
 file an upstream bug) but I'd rather avoid cluttering the "Control Center"
 and focus on actual fingerprinting and anti-tracking improvements in
 general.

 Installing third-party extensions in general is dangerous and it should be
 minimized/avoided as much as possible. The update without browser restart
 does not change anything assuming there is no code audit between updates.
 From a usability side however it is a big improvement as one gets the
 latest extension version that may fix security bugs in extensions without
 losing all tabs etc.

 Yesterday I noticed the reference checker reporting unusually high numbers
 of missing descriptors.

 After investigating this issue for too many hours, I believe that we're
 only missing descriptors in the `recent/` directory, not in the `out/`
 directory. This means that the tarballs are going to be complete but that
 applications fetching recent descriptors only will be missing descriptors.

 doesn't look like we're missing descriptors here.

 So, after looking at too many logs and code, I'm giving up. I can't find
 the bug, at least not yet.

 I'm going to provide a patch that improves logging in this area of the
 code, in particular with respect to unchecked return values when creating
 directories, renaming files, etc. Maybe we'll learn something from those
 logs.

 #27937 is a duplicate: We have similar issues on Linux even though it
 seems they are even harder to reproduce. I assume for now the underlying

 I have a tiny bit more info, shared in the hopes this squeaky wheel gets a
 bit more grease.

 Just today, I also hit the `socketpair_ersatz` test failure while building
 Tor on Raspbian. The relevant snippet of output from `debuild -rfakeroot
 -uc -us` is:

 This single test is the only one that failed. (In my case today, 31 other
 tests were skipped).

 The version of Tor I attempted to build was 0.3.4.8. My Raspberry Pi's
 `uname -a` output:

 This was an

 I believe this is a regression since I have been able to build prior
