[tor-relays] bridge going down

2023-01-22 Thread Anonforpeace via tor-relays
Hello:

I have recently built a Tor Bridge (nickname is h4ck3rspace) and when it first
went up, it was up to about two weeks and then it went down. So I brought it up
again and ever since, it routinely goes down every 1 to 3 nights, between 8p
and 10p EST. I've never seen this type of behavior before. Is there a way to
know why it keeps going down so often, and subsequently how to prevent it?
My area doesn't suffer from power outages and each time I restart Tor I wait to
make sure it says that it is visible externally and that it will be published.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Looks like your connectivity issues extend beyond the computer that you
are running the bridge on. Try taking a look at your router, see if
rebooting or resetting it helps. If not, give your Internet service
provider a call, they should be able to trace the problem further.

Hello, Roger...
Thank you for your reply. I swapped out the NIC cable and that didn't help.
Plugged it into another ethernet port I have for another computer and that
didn't help. I ran an ethtool command for my ethernet card and it said there
was a link but when I ran apt-get update I get the response below. My guess is
that there is a problem with the NIC card which is integrated so I'm thinking I
need a PCI NIC. What do you think?

It looks to me like your computer doesn't have an internet connection
anymore.

The "My browser also does not surf" is a good hint.

Maybe when the power outage happened, some of your computers broke.
Perhaps the router now has some problems, or perhaps the ethernet cable
coming out of this computer is busted, or perhaps the ethernet card
inside the computer is now busted. Many things can happen as a result
of power surges, which often come with power outages.

Good luck,

[tor-relays] Bridge is down

2020-04-08 Thread Anonforpeace
Hello:

Hope someone can help. I had a power outage the other night and when I turned
on my bridge the next day, I found that I have no connectivity. It is hard
wired and among all other computers, it is the only one that is offline. The
logs which are attached here state that it cannot finish the bootstrapping
process. My browser also does not surf. I can get an IP address but that's as
far as it gets. I'm having trouble deciphering the log files. Any help is
appreciated.
