From the description this looks like a Baffle Step Correction (BSC)

a woofer designed for a wide baffle into a narrow baffle.
Its not a crossover, its not tailoring the response between two
Since it is the last working day of October I decided it may be my last
chance to use the RELAUNCH2009 code so I went ahead and ordered a Radio
and a Touch.
I decided to put two seperate orders in to save any prossible problems
with shipping - I didn't want my Radio to egt stuck until my Touch

Luckily I had another computer that wasn't logged into the Logitech
shop but still had a Touch in the cart - must have been stored in a
cookie or something. That one went though just fine and the code was
honoured.
Ditto, took the plunge and ordered one today :)

Sorry if this is disappointing, but there is no way that the Touch is
arriving Nov 3. The announced release is December, and from the current
state of the software and firmware there is no way it is shipping next
week.
I think Jan 3 would be optimistic. No insider
Wot, after Christmas? Oh no

Think the third party Squeeze plugins and applets are important?
Then 'vote for bug 14194'

When I get a Touch i'd like to use it as a server and attach my 500Gb HD
to it so I can do away with my current SBS.
Some questions!
Will my Boom see the Touch and be able to play music from it (i'm sure
I read it can but the spec isn't clear)
Assuming the above is yes
Will the Touch need

Why not? I've been using a Squeezebox in my car for several years now.
It works great. I agree it is a bit of a kluge but it's awesome to have
4000 albums available whenever I want to listen to them and they all
play back with uncompressed audio.
I can put this

There is no such thing as standby.
But there is off, which like most of the SBs, doesn't really turn it
completely off. Does TinySC keep serving if you turn the SBT off via
the button on the upper left of the screen? I would think so, but I
haven't tried it yet.

So the Touch will need to be turned on before the Boom will see it?

That's good :)
In that same off mode, ahem standby :), can the Touch rotate images

I may be mistaken, but my recollection is that the general consensus of
the boards is that if one is going to use an external DAC there is no
difference sound quality-wise between the SB3 and the Transporter.
(Ignoring the neat Displays and the 96k sample rate of the
Transporter.)
Now there
The digital out of the TP is better than the one of the SB3. This can be
measured. The digital out specs of the Touch are between the SB and the
TP.
The general consensus is that the differences are not audible to the
vast majority of users.

This is silly. My library of 800+ albums, all in flac is well under
