I'm sure I've seen something about this previously on this forum. I've EAC'd all my CDs to FLAC using the same settings each time but some albums when played are much, much quieter than others. Is there a way to equalise the output volume so I don't have to keep doing it manually? It's a pain

What the smart volume does is effectively moving the volume up and down . But as their is no more bits and not more than 100% volume ( there is no 11 like in spinal tap ). So it must equalise around a lower base level , so many tunes are played lower a very few louder but the net result should

On a Touch the file is located here /etc/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs Enable remote login in the Touch settings then log on to it using SSH via a terminal on Linux or OSX or a terminal app on windows (like putty) . Edit the file with the vi editor

Almost all of my listening is via random playlists, and I've been using Smart Gain for 5 years. ReplayGain tags have been applied either through foobar2000 or dbPoweramp when ripping CDs. I have been extremely pleased with the results.
