Well, I found a replacement but it seems that does not fully do it:
PMIC - Linear (LDO) Texas Instruments LP2985IM5-3.5/NOPB
This has basically the same data on its datasheet as the original Torex
part. Both are designed for 150mA but to me it looks like the circuitry
behind the regulator
Hmm, if EDO was mentioned during boot then that means it still booted
the EDO kernel. You may need another reboot to eradicate it completely
(and in fact I'm sure I've read there may be an issue with this).
At least you are working again.

I deinstalled EDO v0.9 and after the reboot (was a bit irrritated that
"Enhanced Digital Output" had still been mentioned on top of the screen)
