The value of -5 made sense in my little testing, but if that was what
you were looking for, then I'd make it a preference.

You should update your LMS. 7.7 introduced a much improved caching, getting rid of the FileCache folder. Please note that during the update you might think the installer had locked up. That's due to your gigantic cache folder which will be removed. What particular albums do you see this with? I've reported tagging issues to them about a year ago. But my procedure still is download, rename artwork, check tags :-(. Pretty often they're missing year or genre information. Though they seem to have improved: today's download (Portico Quartet - Knee-Deep In The North Sea) seems to be fine (listening to it on my Transporter as I type ;-)). The font we're shipping with Controller/Touch/Radio doesn't support some of the non-latin character sets.
