The update that was released was for bug 1668813 and certainly does not affect installation of the package as it only changes a man-page. Maybe iproute2 has issues upgrading in general yet since it is not updated so often we don't see it? Since I could not reproduce for now I hope that the

I had an image round with the older iproute2 4.3.0-1ubuntu3, so I tried an update but it worked just fine. There must be something special to the reported cases that makes them fail. apt install iproute2 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information...
