Please.. Downgrading VTE for this reason won't happen. Many other packages are built with the latest version (running "apt rdepends libvte-2.91-0" gives you a hint). Rewriting the patch or fix gdebi so the patch isn't needed on Ubuntu are two reasonable options. If you want to help fix this,
