Even though the installer crashed, powering off the machine and
restarting sent me to a 'Perform MOK management' menu where I had to
input my chosen password from the relevant step in the installation
process. After that rebooting took me to the Grub menu and I could
successfully start Ubuntu

Regardless of settings in power manager or logind.conf, machine will not
suspend on lid close. It will turn off the screen, though.
Suspend from menu, command or power button works.

Running Ubuntu Studio (Xubuntu) 14.04 I had this or a very similar
problem when I changed name and hid the SSID on my wifi.
nm-manager kept looking for the old SSID and would not connect to the
hidden network - I had to connect manually on boot.
