This bug prevented me from using Ubuntu. My graphics card is a GEForce
6200, which is very old, and apparently some of the newer GUI gidgets
don't work on it. This prevented me from using Ubuntu on my computer.
I am using Debian with the KDE shell, which I keep up-to-date. Debian
KDI runs fine. I haven't tried Ubuntu since then.

Title:
Invoking dash corrupts the display; graphics card has very apparent
  problems with synch

Status in Unity:
  Incomplete
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Invoking Dash initially totally corrupts the display, which then
settles down, sometimes to a partially coherent Dash panel, sometimes
to just a prompt with scattered pixels everywhere, sometimes nearly
complete coherence. During this process, the graphics card apparently
tries to re-synch several times. After Dash exits or is terminated
with <Ctrl>F4, everything is OK again.

Graphcis card is ASUS EN6200TC256/TD/64M GeForce 6200 TC 256MB(64MB on
  Board) 64-bit DDR PCII Express x16, a re-branded NVIDIA GeForce 6200.
I use the D-Sub output through a Linksys KVM switch to a NEC MultiSync
  90GX2 display.
