If this "selection" of packages is what Ubuntu is calling Server now,
what should we use instead for a BASE server install? As fuqqer-r
pointed out. SSH isn't installed by default, WTF is LDX, git, iscsi,
account-services, and who knows whatelse being installed by default for?

The iputils package included in Ubuntu is from 2012. There have been
several releases since then and should be updated. Specifically, the
iputils-ping package needs to be updated to support the unified ping
binary.

Just to document additional support. I concur that on a Server install,
PE should disabled by default. A server doesn't fall into the use case
of needing to protect the privacy of the user. It is meant to be known,
not obfuscated.
