Fixed - The symlink of resolv.conf was wrong. The following shows how -
resolv.conf-BAK was the old, broken one, resolv.conf the one I fixed. I don't
know how that happened, but I have installed the 18.04 beta version, may that
was the reason.

The network-manager applet shows me automatic DNS configuration and a DNS
server of 192.0.0.1, which is correct.

After logging in to Ubuntu 17.10 in Wayland, the mouse cursor flickers shortly
and then is gone.
In XOrg session all is fine.
