Public bug reported: I create my VMs with virt-manager and tried "Video Modell vmvga" in order to let the VM use my whole screen of 1920x1200. This works with some Ubuntu flavours, but others crash on login:
The host is Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS, using Gnome-classic as GUI. All VMs were updated to latest state. All VMs run, when "Video Modell cirrus" is selected, however, this allows only a max display resolution of 1280*1024, insufficient for some graphics work. But when running "Video Modell vmvga" (all being otherwise identically configured): Ubuntu Unity 14.04 .................. ok Kubuntu 14.04 .......................... ok (occasional crashes) Ubuntu Cinnamon 14.04 ......... shows login screen, crashes on login (this VM was cloned from Unity, Cinnamon then added) Ubuntu Gnome 14.04................ shows login screen, crashes on login (installed from fresh download) Ubuntu Mate 14.04.01 ............. shows login screen, crashes on login (installed from fresh download) Ubuntu Unity has such tiny fonts that usage is almost impossible. Only Kubuntu is usable in that regard, but this crashes occasionally ** Affects: util-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to util-linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1426893 Title: qemu-kvm virtual machines crash with some but not all ubuntu flavors when vmvga video is selected Status in util-linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I create my VMs with virt-manager and tried "Video Modell vmvga" in order to let the VM use my whole screen of 1920x1200.
