  Unity not launching after logging in

Bug description:
  I just upgraded from Ubuntu 13.10 to the development Trusty Thar. When
  I log in from the Unity Greeter, my session is opened by there are no
  Unity components: launcher, top panel, dash.

  What works: tty1-6, Nautilus (I see my desktop), Firefox, Gnome-Terminal, 
etc. Everything but the desktop environment, in fact.
  The package “unity” is already installed.
