I found a way to bring that shutdown messages back by disabling /etc/init/plymouth-shutdown.conf (echo manual /etc/init/plymouth- shutdown.override) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to upstart in Ubuntu.
