I have tried to work around the problem by using the commands:
$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get dist-ugrade
Now the problem disappears. I am not sure whether it makes sense to
attach the log again.

This looks like a problem with systemd or apt?
Can you attach your logs from /var/log/apt/ and share your entries in
/etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*?
