I have been able to reproduce this finally with the following steps:
- flash krillin (--bootstrap) with vivid-proposed
- put the broken image in ~/Pictures
- start Gallery
- if not crash, close Gallery, rm -rf .cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/ and go back to
previous step
After a few tries it crashes.
I'm unable to reproduce the issue with packages from silo 19
