FYI, it's done... GLEW 1.13.0 is building right now on Debian's buildd
infrastructure.

@Matteo, thanks for the status update, indeed having the new version in
16.04 would be nice, we are going to watch for that upload to sid and
follow with the transition

I'm working on testing GLEW 1.13.0 against its 63 reverse dependencies
right now and I really hope to be able to upload it to Debian
unstable/sid within the end of this month. So probably Ubuntu 16.04
should ship 1.13.0 ;-)

I'm the upstream maintainer of GLEW, my comment is that although a lot
of packages depend on GLEW, the vast majority of changes are fully
backwards compatible. 1.11.0 is itself nearly one year old and is two
versions behind. Fortunately for me I'm not having too much traffic
about obsolete bugs,
The new version is still in Debian experimental, seems like a non
trivial one which probably needs testing and coordination

I did some research and found that Debian started (or at least
investigated) a transition for the next version of this package. This
means that they rebuild all packages which depend on GLEW (either
directly or indirectly) to make sure they still work after the upgrade.
