Sorry for the late reply. 1) Well, I have another Ubuntu-based machine that does not have any custom kernel parameters, and it does leave these artifacts every-now- and-then as well. 2) And yes, I do remember seeing those artifacts in previous Ubuntu versions, too, but simply assumed that would
