Thanks Rafael, Andreas and everybody for the great work done here! I
successfully tested your fix as follows:
1. Followed the steps in the original description of this
bug up the point where the installer tries to install
grub to /dev/mapper and fails.
2. Replaced
Verifying the fix from the PPA:
(k)rafaeldtinoco@keoan:~$ ls /dev/disk/by-id
ls: cannot access '/dev/disk/by-id': No such file or directory
(k)rafaeldtinoco@keoan:~$ sudo grub-mkdevicemap --no-floppy -m -
(hd0) /dev/vda
(hd1) /dev/vdb
This is the expected behavior (by installer).
