Eugene: do you get the exact same error message? Could you please
comment the command you run and the error message you see.
Also, since I found the "/usr/lib/python3/dist-
packages/aptsources/distro.py" file is part of python3-apt, could you
include the output of `apt policy python3-apt` to see
OK, but can you guide me please as to how to resolve this in case I upgraded
and not installed anew?
Cause I installed all the updated but this error still persists..

I'm closing this after your comment. I strongly suspect the problem was
that focal wasn't found in the list of possible Ubuntu releases.
Whenever a new developmen cycle starts, the new code name needs to be
added in a couple of places and this can sometimes take a few days.
That was really fast response, or I think a bugfix independent of my bug
report. Anyway, in the recently zsynced new daily iso file
add-apt-repository
works in Lubuntu focal :-)
