There is no difference between the signal output for headphones or for
speakers. The software cannot ever know which is plugged in, and
actually should not behave differently in either case.

In Windows and in some games, you have got the option to select the
sound output.
For example, you can select headphones (auriculares in spanish) and the
sound is lower to not damage your ears. The other option is to select
speakers (altavoces in spanish), and in that case the sound is higher.
