I have tried that sequence several times and it makes no difference for me.

I am also having the same issue on Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS.
Though,
sudo dpkg --configure -a
followed by:
sudo apt --fix-broken install
and finally:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
fixed issue on my machine.

During install "error processing
I'm having the exact same issue in Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS
I fixed it once by doing:
sudo dpkg --force depends -P libglib2.0-0:i386
But then the next time I did an update the issue came back again. This
definitely seems like an upstream problem as it affects multiple Ubuntu
derived distros.

Thanks but you should report those issues to Mint since that's the
distribution you are using
