Please could you recheck with the recent 14.04 LTS or 14.10 releases and
reopen the issue if the problem persists?

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gdb
/usr/bin/ex exists as a s-link to /etc/alternatives/ex which is s-linked to
/usr/bin/vim.tiny
But gdb is hardcoded to search for ex in the path /bin/ex.
