[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389510] Re: SD card and contents listed several times
No, the card is not removed from the slot when this happens. ** Changed in: mtp (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mtp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389510 Title: SD card and contents listed several times Status in mtp package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When connecting to a krillin running rtm image 142, I see the SD card device listed several times. If I connect to that device and list its contents, each file and directory is listed several times too. The exact number is consistent during a session, but varies per boot. If I then add a new file, disconnect, and reconnect, that file is listed just once while everything else is listed several times. The mtp client I'm using to test this is gmtp. Results may appear different with Nautilus, because I think it ignores duplicates. Screenshots demonstrating what I see are attached. This issue isn't new, but it seems to happen every time now instead of just once in a while. Ref: http://tinyurl.com/7v6yvh9 Its modem type is ZTE MF190J. I need to use it in my Ubuntu 12.04 laptop. I have created a definition in the "Mobile Broadband". The definition is done by a wizard where I select "Portugal" and "TMN" and where I enter a PIN-code. Please see the picture. The pen indicates a green light, but still, I cannot access the internet. And the network-applet icon switches off. The config looks like this http://bildr.no/view/1170463 and http://bildr.no/view/1172725 One thing I noticed that Ubuntu first thinks that this USB-pin is a storage device (like a cdrom) and it mounts it to /media/ZTEMODEM. I have to "Eject" this mount point first, then Linux seemingly continues to load the driver. The light on the USB-pin turns red, then after 5 secs to green. The network applet says "Registered to your home network", then immediate after that "Modem network.. disconnected". I know there is usb-modeswitch commmands that can disable the auto- mounting. I have tested this same USB-pin (3G modem) on Windows and it work perfectly well. I also used its Windows application to disabled the PIN code (just for testing). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1401743] [NEW] HP Z210 workstation with nvidia Quadro 600 card thinks 32 inch sharp TV/monitor is 37 inch
Public bug reported: I am dual booting with windows 8.1 and I am able to tweak the same misconfiguration with the nvidia console in windows by shrinking (down scaling) the display from 1920 X1080 to 1824 X 1026 resolution preserving the aspect ratio. Is it possible to enable the correct identification of the monitor as a 32 inch diagonal instead of an oversized 37 inch diagonal which makes my top menu bar and application side bar offscreen? [Touch-packages] [Bug 678421] Re: Error message for a faulty ~/.profile script
I have successfully installed and run lightdm 1.10.4-0ubuntu2 from trusty-proposed. The behavior in case of a syntax error in ~/.profile has changed in accordance with the test case in the bug description. ** Tags removed: verification-needed ** Tags added: verification-done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678421 Title: Error message for a faulty ~/.profile script Status in GDM: The Gnome Display Manager: New Status in gdm package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gdm source package in Trusty: Triaged Status in lightdm source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in gdm source package in Utopic: Triaged Status in lightdm source package in Utopic: Fix Committed Bug description: trusty and utopic SRU requests == [Impact] In case of a syntax error in either of ~/.profile or a few other similar files, the Xorg login is interrupted, and the user is taken back to the login screen without an explanation. Debugging this problem may be a time consuming exercise, especially for non- experienced users. With the proposed change, lightdm/gdm does not try to load such a file, but shows a warning dialog instead. (A warning dialog is also shown in case of some other type of error, which would not have caused the login to fail.) [Test Case] To reproduce: * Edit ~/.profile and add something bad, e.g. a non-closed parenthesis. * Log out and find that you can't log in to a graphical session. After installing the proposed lightdm/gdm version, you'll instead see the dialog and can log in. [Regression Potential] Since this is only about improved exception handling, it does not at all affect users with correct configuration files. The regression risk ought to be minimal. [Original description] Binary package hint: gdm After adding "function AddPath { PATH="$1:$PATH" }" to $HOME/.profile made the Xorg startup fail. (At that moment I had already forgotten the changes made to the .profile). As I had autologin that meant it kept trying to login and finally showed me the graphics reconfiguration screen. That sent me to a huge hunt for xorg conf and setup problems. Anyway finally tracked this down. I had used bash syntax in .profile file whereas it was run with sh. This is not a bug per se but I think a user mistake in ".profile" shouldn't bring the whole xorg startup to a halt as it does with autologin. I propose running user ".profile" and ".xprofile" scripts so that Xsession script continues running even if they have errors. I'm not sure whether this change would have some negative effects as well. 1) Ubuntu Lucid, Linux egon-laptop 2.6.32-25-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 19:48:22 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux 2) gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/678421/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I agree that it makes sense to have a time out when desktop in question mouse is used as a pointer device. But on the phone and other touch devices where launcher is revealed with edge gesture I find it irritating and doesn't really serve any purpose. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1335582] Re: Scrolling in one desktop "touches" apps in another desktop
I can't reproduce it with these exact steps anymore but the bug is still there. Here are simpler steps to reproduce it: 1) Setup four virtual desktops in a 2x2 configuration 2) On the top-left desktop setup a terminal window maximized to the left side (by dragging it to the left edge so it uses the left half of the screen) 3) Move to the top-right desktop 4) Move the mouse to the right edge and see that you can grab the left edge of the terminal The same exact thing happens with the bottom-left and bottom-right desktops. It's as if the desktop is wrapping around from the right edge of the right desktop to the left edge of the left desktop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1335582 Title: Scrolling in one desktop "touches" apps in another desktop Status in Unity: Incomplete Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I've found a bug in how unity/compiz handles multiple desktops. The Dash contains favourite feeds. The current design proposal is that an individually opened feed (feed = scope) opens as a separate application in its own instance if it's not one of the favourite feeds. Within the feed there can be a navigation similarly as apps have but there is no header back navigation back to dash. Even if it was launched from there. So these non-favourite feeds are self contained items behaving like any app. Because of their app-like nature we want to add non-favourite feeds to the spread view and treat them there as any applications. Public bug reported: Using the current daily build of vivid for Ubuntu Gnome in Virtualbox, after the welcome screen is displayed and switching to tty1 on the live CD I see: starting version 217 hwdb.bin does not exist, please run udevadm hwdb --update Network interface NamePolicy= disabled on kernel commandline, ignoring. invalid key/value pair in file /lib/udev/rules.d/97-dmraid.rules on line 8, starting at character 95 ('a') [45.279072] systemd-logind[3430]: Failed to start user service: Unknown unit: user@999.service Welcome to Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) ...snip... Last week the above output was present post-installation. Currently this is not present post-installation with the current daily build. However the system-logind error (Unknown init) persists and is currently present post-installation with slight difference of user@999 becoming user@1000. I found this bug report which has been marked as "Fix released" but not sure if these are related or not: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1190947. I have a screenshot from last week which I installed a daily build image on physical hardware. Some of the errors in that screenshot are no longer present (whoopsie & basename). If you need it please let me know. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1305699] Re: upowerd crashed with SIGSEGV in service_client_free()
This was affecting me with my iPhone 6, but I found that installing "libimobiledevice-utils" solved the problem. Now light locker(?) is showing a password dialog box, but it will accept any (or no) password for screen unlock, just as for login. This might be a good change, but it was surely unexpected, and I found the previous functionality (being able to NOT require the PW for login but still require it for screen unlock) very useful, even if it might seem odd on the surface.
